Carie and I drove from Denver to Durango and back in early September. We caught a little bit of color change, but mostly enjoyed the amazing roads through the mountains!

They don’t call it the Million Dollar Highway for nothing! But first… getting there is a pretty nice drive too.

We arrived in Durango late afternoon, took a stroll through town, stopped at a couple breweries, had thai for dinner, camped out in the van. Bright and early the next morning, we headed north to Silverton.

Descending into Silverton gave us a wide view of the remote town,

We drove through the Curecanti rec area along the Gunnison River on our way back over Monarch Pass and home.
